The Bens Music Foundation is a family run music orientated charity based in West Yorkshire. The charity was founded in early February 2011 by the family and friends of the late Ben Manning.
Ben Manning went missing after a night out with friends in Wakefield on 22nd January 2011. A widescale search for Ben was conducted alongside the police, and groups of searchers consisted of more than 480 people, including close friends, family and the general public. The exhausting search lasted over 11 days until Ben was eventually found on 2nd February 2011. The family's determination to find Ben safe during the search was inspirational to everyone, as well as the amount of help given by the general public, local businesses and the support shown on the Facebook Page of more than 10,000 posts was truely overwhelming. Ben’s tragic death and the enormous support from over 22,000 people within the local community inspired the Manning family to set up the charity in his memory. |
From the beginning |
Where we are now |
We started of funding a few applications in the first couple of years. Supporting local schools in Wakefield, funding instruments and equipment. We quickly learnt that to get the best of what we do, we needed to expand away from supporting schools and supporting individuals. Our schools music program was born.
|
We currently fund over 150 kids each year into music education through our schools music program, and work with 3 projects across West Yorkshire. We have come such a long way in the last 9 years and we will continue to grow as a charity. We remain a fully voluntary organisation assuring you that 100% of donations we receive go into the charity work we do.
|
Its with your continued support we will be able to continue to support our kids in the community. We will continue to try to provide access to music education and project management. But we do need to keep working as a community to sustain what we want to achieve. So thank you to you!
